ATP Tennis News, Interviews

By Lisa-Marie Burrows

WIMBLEDON, London – Shortly after winning his seventh title at Wimbledon, Roger Federer was too busy to celebrate and take in the moment, as he had to fulfill his media commitments and one of these was with the Tennis Channel.

Here is the full length video of the interview, courtesy of the Tennis Channel:

Federer confessed he had been drinking and joked about being tipsy in the past with Martina Navaratilova in his interview after the match and in the interview he revealed that he feels that as his game has evolved over the years, so has his understanding and respect for the game:

“I have more respect for the game and understand more what is going on.”

Did Roger Federer ever feel he was going to lose after resumption of the match due to the rain delay?

“Victory was in my racquet and that was a good thing when we were playing indoors. I was able to play more aggressive when the roof came on.”

Roger Federer has had an astonishing career and it is something which he is continuing with for as long as he feels healthy and his family enjoy the hectic lifestyle:

“I enjoy the world of travelling and the world of tennis. I will do it as long as I am fit and healthy and my wife and kids are happy on tour.”

With moments of victory, there are always moments of heart crushing losses and Roger Federer has experienced those in the past and could relate to the heartbreak that Andy Murray is feeling:

“I hope he sees it as a starting point and the start of something great coming his way. He should be very proud of his efforts here because he does play under a lot of pressure.”
