Juan Martin Del Potro does not want to miss the opportunity to play in the semi-final representing Argentina and help to book the place for his country for the second consecutive time in the Davis Cup final. The Argentine will be on the court in spite of the doctor, who has performed surgery on the wrist a few seasons ago, who has also prescribed a period of complete rest for at least 15 days:

“I’ll be on the court for the fans. The doctor assured me that I need to rest to heal it but I have decided to rest later, It’s nice to play here, I will give it my best.”

I have to admit that I am surprised with the decision made by Del Potro to play in the Davis Cup semifinals, particularly knowing he had to undergo a wrist operation on his right wrist 18months ago. However, he is a sensible man and no doubt he knows his body and how he is feeling better than anybody else. No doubt he will be crossing his fingers for a straight sets win in his tie.
