INDIAN WELLS – California:  There was further success for Swiss tennis on Monday as No. 3 seed Stanislas Wawrinka moved one step closer to a rematch in the desert with his compatriot Federer, needing a mere 49 minutes to dump Andreas Seppi 6-0, 6-2 out of the tournament and advance to the fourth round.

Wawrinka enjoyed a comfortable victory opening the match with a bagel against the Italian, winning all six games.  The 28 year old, who currently sits at a career-high No. 3 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, fired seven aces and did not face a single break point against the Italian.

Still riding high from his first Grand Slam victory success at the Australian Open, the Swiss No.1 dropped only two games in the second set to improve his perfect record in 2014 to 13-0 with the victory. Wawrinka broke serve on five occasions and was delighted to record his 95th win at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 level.

When asked if he could have played any better in the first set, the Swiss smiled, exclaiming, “maybe, maybe not.”

“Today was an amazing match.  I can’t complain. Playing that great, it’s good. That level, it depends a little bit who you play, but I’m really, really happy with my match today. I’m moving really well, and every time I can play aggressive it makes a difference.”

Wawrinka will face in-form Kevin Anderson next. The South African who was a finalist in Delray Beach (lost to Cilic) and Acapulco (lost to Dimitrov) last month, improved to 13-4 in 2014 with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory over lucky loser Evgeny Donskoy.
